CPRIT visits Texas Tech El Paso to spotlight major new state cancer research grant

(AUSTIN) Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) CEO Wayne Roberts and others joined President of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (Texas Tech El Paso) Richard Lange and local leaders for a press conference on Friday, July 28th to spotlight a major new cancer research grant awarded to the university. The $6 million CPRIT grant (RP230420) supports the creation of a Texas Regional Excellence in Cancer (TREC) initiative at the university, which will focus on impacting cancer outcomes among Hispanics in the region.

CPRIT awards more than $73 million to Texas institutions and companies in the fight against cancer

(AUSTIN) The governing board of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) advanced the fight against cancer by approving over $73 million in new cancer research grants at its quarterly meeting on Wednesday.

The board approved $60 million in crucial, early-stage investments in Texas-based companies developing breakthrough cancer-fighting drugs and treatments, including one company relocating from Seattle to Houston. The Oversight Committee also approved several new CPRIT scholar awards to recruit world-class cancer investigators from across the country to Texas institutions.

 

CPRIT symposium to expand Texas leadership in computational oncology

(AUSTIN) The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas joined Livestrong Cancer Institutes at Dell Medical School, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering & Sciences to host a symposium focused on expanding Texas leadership in the groundbreaking field of computational oncology.  The event was held adjacent to the UT Austin campus at the Dell Medical School Health Learning Building and was livestreamed to a pre-registered audience.

CPRIT approves $90 million to boost cancer research, prevention efforts across Texas

(AUSTIN) The governing board of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) took a major step forward in the fight against cancer by approving over $90 million in new cancer research and prevention grants at its quarterly meeting near the Texas Capitol on Wednesday. The slate of forty projects from across Texas fund a wide range of innovative research and prevention efforts at major research hubs like Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston, but also invests in rapidly developing cancer research programs in El Paso and the Rio Grande Valley.

 

Texas cancer agency to act on $90 million in proposed awards for cancer research and prevention efforts

(AUSTIN) The governing board of the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) will meet next Wednesday, February 15 at the new Barbara Jordan State Office Building located on the Capitol Mall in Austin to consider and vote on a slate of four dozen CPRIT cancer research and prevention grants totaling more than $90 million.
