Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas Awards New Grants
AUSTIN — The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) today awarded 10 new academic research grants totaling over $31 million to recruit eminent cancer researchers to Texas.

CPRIT Legislative Update
Today, the Texas Senate Committee on Finance unanimously approved HJR 12 by a vote of 10-0. This vote now clears the way for the bill to be considered by the full Senate.

Childhood Cancer Awareness in the Texas Legislature
This week, CPRIT Chief Scientific Officer James Willson, MD presented invited testimony to the Senate Transportation Committee on SB 2014 and SB 2015 by Senator Pat Fallon. In his testimony, Dr. Willson outlined progress made on Childhood Cancer through CPRIT-funded research.
Colon Cancer: Prevention and Research Advances
In 2019 there will be an estimated 11,533 cases of colon cancer and 4,242 deaths in Texas. Colon cancer could be virtually eliminated through screening and treatment yet it is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in Texas.
