Audit Subcommittee
The Audit Subcommittee oversees CPRIT’s risk management and audit requirements. It directs the work of the internal auditor to ensure that there are sufficient policies and practices in place to control standard risks in the operations, accounting, and regulatory compliance of CPRIT as a state agency. The committee also has oversight of the annual independent financial audit.
Board Governance Subcommittee
The purpose of the Board Governance Subcommittee is to review and recommend proposed changes for approval to the Oversight Committee with respect to Bylaws, any policies or administrative rules of the Institute, legislation regarding or affecting the Institute, the delegation of authority to the Executive Director, and to review the ethics policies of the Institute and their administration and make recommendations to the Oversight Committee with respect to them. In addition, the Board Governance Subcommittee shall review, at least annually, the internal policies and processes of the Oversight Committee.
Contract Issues Subcommittee
The Contract Issues Subcommittee was created on September 3, 2014, by the Oversight Committee. The main purpose of the Subcommittee is to advise the Oversight Committee regarding terms and issues related to CPRIT grantee award contracts. Responsibilities of the Subcommittee also include, but are not limited to, reviewing and recommending changes to the standard award contract template as well as reviewing staff recommendations related to third party contracts. The Subcommittee may seek guidance from any of the CPRIT Advisory Committees.
Prevention Subcommittee
The purpose of the Prevention Subcommittee is to provide appropriate program oversight and feedback to the Oversight Committee related to program policies, including, but not limited to, policies for implementing, monitoring, and revising the Texas Cancer Plan.
In addition, the Prevention Subcommittee will work with CPRIT staff to oversee the design and improvement of processes for the solicitation, review, award, and performance monitoring of CPRIT prevention grants. The purpose of the Prevention Subcommittee is to develop policies for the Oversight Committee's adoption that will ensure that the Institute properly exercises its duty to award grants to develop and to balance basic research and the realization of opportunities for commercialized treatment and prevention of cancer.
Product Development Subcommittee
The purpose of the Product Development Subcommittee is to develop policies for the Oversight Committee's adoption that will ensure that the Institute properly exercises its duty to award grants to develop products and treatments for patient use from basic cancer research and to properly balance basic research and the realization of opportunities for commercialized treatment and prevention.
In addition, the Product Development Subcommittee will work with CPRIT staff to oversee the design and improvement of processes for the solicitation, review, award, and performance monitoring of CPRIT research development grants.
Scientific Research Subcommittee
The purpose of the Scientific Research Subcommittee is to provide appropriate program oversight and feedback to the Oversight Committee related to program policies, including, but not limited to, policies for implementing, monitoring, and revising the Texas Cancer Plan.
In addition, the Scientific Research Subcommittee will work with CPRIT staff to oversee the design and improvement of processes for the solicitation, review, award, and performance monitoring of CPRIT scientific research grants.

Special Issues Subcommittee
The primary purpose of the Subcommittee is to advise the Oversight Committee on special issues, including planning for CPRIT’s sunset review and associated legislative issues.
