Texans set a course in 2007 to conquer cancer. Yesterday’s vote underscores the state’s unprecedented commitment to improve the health and lives of our fellow Texans by preventing, treating, and curing cancer. Everyone at CPRIT appreciates the confidence Texans place in us to guide the state toward a cancer-free future.
Shortly after he won the Nobel Prize in Medicine, CPRIT Scholar Jim Allison was asked, "So what now?" His response, "Keep working and try to do it better." So it goes with CPRIT. We need to keep working, try to do it better, and based on what we have learned during our first ten years, explore new opportunities to take Texas’ historic fight against cancer to greater levels.
