(AUSTIN) – The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) announced today the appointment of Tracey B. Davies as Chief Strategic Initiatives and Intellectual Property Officer.

“Ms. Davies’ program development, management and intellectual property expertise as well as her experience working with life science companies creating new therapeutics will be a major asset for CPRIT as we plan for the next decade and accelerate the advancement of IP developed with CPRIT investment,” CPRIT CEO Wayne Roberts said. “We are eager to find new ways to integrate our cancer prevention and research efforts, including with new public/private partnerships promoting Texas’ research and applied science superiority.” 

Tracey Davies

Davies has more than 20 years of experience advising life science companies at all stages of development and research institutions across a broad range of business and legal issues. She is also a licensed patent attorney. Prior to joining CPRIT, she was a partner with Gibson Dunn & Crutcher L.L.P., and co-chaired the firm’s Life Sciences practice as well as serving as a member of the firm’s Intellectual Property and Litigation practice groups. Previously, Davies was a partner and member of the Executive Management Committee at Vinson & Elkins, L.L.P., where she led the firm’s Intellectual Property, Technology and Life Science practices. Davies received her J.D.  from the University of Minnesota, where she also earned a master’s degree in Public Health. She begins work at CPRIT on March 1, 2021.
