Summary of Goals and Objectives |
Glioblastoma remains one of the deadliest forms of brain cancer. To prolong patient's lives, precise tools are desirable to assess tumor boundaries, treatment efficacy and to recognize early recurrences for further therapy; however, current medical imaging approaches are inadequate to meet these requirements. With current diagnostic imaging standards, it is not possible to unambiguously distinguish real tumor regression or recurrent tumor growth from pseudo-regression or pseudo-progression induced by surgery or pharmacological and radiation therapy.
