In order to achieve this goal, I am seeking a tenure-track faculty physician-scientist position at an institution with the infrastructure, resources, and commitment that will allow me to build an academic career as an independently funded scientist. I am committed to pursuing excellence in my own research program, which I define as making contributions to science that meaningfully improve patient care, and dedicated to being an outstanding collaborator and mentor.

During the first 5 years of my independent research career my goals and objectives, broadly defined, are as follows:

(1) To establish a robust computational and basic laboratory consisting of graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and staff scientists that has a collaborative and nurturing environment;

(2) To develop a research program with multiple lines of inquiry that will enhance our fundamental understanding of clonal hematopoiesis in patients with solid malignancies;

(3) To develop informatic resources and tools to optimize the analysis of integrated clinical and genetic institutional data for primary research investigations;

(4) To open a prospective clinical protocol to evaluate whether genotoxic treatments induce somatic mutations that have actionable clinical implications;

(5) To be an outstanding mentor and collaborator;

(6) To obtain R level external research funding.
