Tyler Hillman is an assistant professor in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology & Reproductive Medicine, and jointly in the Department of Genomic Medicine at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He is a surgeon-scientist whose laboratory was founded with the purpose of applying genetic and epigenetic analytical techniques to the discovery of new treatments for rare types of gynecologic cancer. A key focus of Dr Hillman's work is related to understanding the molecular pathogenesis of ovarian granulosa cell tumors. Dr Hillman's work in this area is motivated by his busy international referral practice providing medical and surgical treatment for women affected by this disease. Dr Hillman was recruited in 2020 with the help of a First-Time, Tenure-Track Faculty Members award from CPRIT. His previous training includes both an M.D. and Ph.D. in genetics from the Stanford University School of Medicine Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), as well as clinical and post-doctoral research training in cancer genomics at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
