Neal Copeland received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Utah and was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School, where he met his long-time collaborator and wife, Nancy Jenkins. They became Associate Staff Scientists at The Jackson Laboratory and then moved to the National Cancer Institute-Frederick as Senior Investigators where Neal served as Director of the Mammalian Genetics Laboratory and later, the Mouse Cancer Genetics Program.
