Kyle Eagen, Ph.D., is an assistant professor and CPRIT Scholar in Cancer Research at Baylor College of Medicine. He received his B.S. degree in Biological Sciences with a concentration in biochemistry from Cornell University. He obtained his Ph.D. in biophysics from Stanford University where he worked with Dr. Roger Kornberg studying chromatin and chromosome structure.  In 2021, he joined Baylor College of Medicine's Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology. He has received an NIH Director's Early Independence Award, a CPRIT Scholar in Cancer Research Award, and an Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer R Accelerated Award.  The Eagen Lab combines concepts and approaches from biochemistry with methods and analytical tools from cell biology, molecular biology, pharmacology, genomics, and computational biology to determine how the three-dimensional structure of chromosomes regulates gene expression. His laboratory has revealed fundamental principles of how the spatial segregation of chromatin into distinct regions, or compartments, of the nucleus imparts biological function and how this compartmentalization goes awry in cancer. His long-term goal is to develop pharmacological intervention of aberrant chromatin 3D structure as a novel therapeutic approach for oncology.
