Jonghwan Kim researches the complexities of stem cells and gene regulation, and he has served as a CPRIT Scholar since 2011.
An associate professor in the Department of Molecular Biosciences, Dr. Kim leads a lab and researches with the Institute for Cellular and Molecular Biology and the Center for Systems and Synthetic Biology at the The University of Texas at Austin.
He previously served as a pediatric research fellow and research associate at Children’s Hospital Boston and at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Kim received his Ph.D. in cellular and molecular biology at UT Austin, and his M.S. and B.S. in biology at Hanyang University in Seoul, South Korea. He is the recipient of multiple honors, awards and prestigious grants, including an NIH Pathway to Independence Award and a Burroughs Wellcome Fund Preterm Birth Initiative Award.
