An ultramodern core resource has been established, the North Texas Clinical Pharmacology Cancer Core, to help basic cancer researchers and physicians better test and understand new drugs or therapies. Such testing assists investigators to better understand how cancer drugs move in the body, how the drugs treat cancer, how to best deliver these drugs, and how to avoid unwanted side effects. In general, the research team of this Core will support translational cancer researchers to conduct research on what cancer drugs do to the body and what the human body does to these drugs. The Core has deep technical expertise, state-of-the-art instrumentation and equipment, as well as cutting-edge computer programs to help cancer investigators with designing studies to optimize our understanding of drug movement in the body, the action of drugs, the best approaches to administer the drug and enhance cures while reducing unwanted side effects. Continued funding will keep the North Texas Clinical Pharmacology Cancer Core operational, upgrade the Core instruments, and expand the research capacity and capability to meet the clinical pharmacology needs of North Texas cancer investigators.
