PLUS Therapeutics’ Rhenium-186 NanoLiposome (186RNL) is a novel radiotherapeutic being developed to combat rare and difficult-to-treat cancers. Currently in clinical development for recurrent glioblastoma, 186RNL is safe and well-tolerated while delivering a radiation dose to the tumor that is up to 15 times higher than typically achievable with standard radiation therapy. PLUS now plans to develop 186RNL to treat leptomeningeal metastases (LM), a rare but typically fatal complication of advanced cancer affecting the fluid-lined structures surrounding the brain and spinal cord.
