New Grant Management Platform
The information below provides answers to frequently asked questions about the new CPRIT Grant Management Platform (GMP).

General
The CPRIT GMP is a new, comprehensive online platform to apply for, manage, and report on CPRIT-funded grants. Once the transition is complete, the new CPRIT GMP will fully replace the existing application, peer review, and grant management systems CPRIT currently uses (CARS, P2RMIS, and CGMS) and provide a consistent, unified experience across the full grant lifecycle for CPRIT staff, peer reviewers, grant applicants, and grantees.
In 2025, the Texas Legislature authorized CPRIT to use appropriated funds to replace our existing application, peer review, and grant management systems (CARS, P2RMIS, and CGMS). The new CPRIT GMP enables applicants to seamlessly apply for grants, receive funding, and efficiently manage their grants. We have integrated feedback from grantees and institutional partners to make CPRIT’s online grant process clearer and easier to navigate.
CPRIT designed the new GMP around proven grant management practices, drawing on approaches used widely across the field – including federal grant programs and other Texas state agencies. The result is a system built to streamline how CPRIT works with our grantees.
CPRIT will release new GMP modules in phases, with the first module available in early August. This module will support the FY27.2 Academic Research and Prevention grant application cycles.
CPRIT will launch the post-award grant management and peer reviewer modules in January 2027, at which point CPRIT’s legacy management systems (CARS, P2RMIS, and CGMS) will no longer be available. Legacy grant applications and associated files will be migrated into the new CPRIT GMP by the end of January 2027. We will continue to enhance and refine the new CPRIT GMP over time.

Before the new CPRIT GMP launches, there are some key dates to consider throughout the rollout process.
July:

- CPRIT will post links to the FY27.2 Academic Research RFAs and information about how to apply for each RFA on CPRIT’s Apply for Funding page.
August:

- CPRIT will post links to the FY27.2 Academic Research RFAs and information about submitting applications for the FY27.2 Academic Research RFAs in the new CPRIT GMP. Individuals who are interested in applying for the FY27.2 Academic Research RFAs will be able to access and review them in the new CPRIT GMP.
- CPRIT will provide a User Guide and a “How to Apply” video on our website.
- CPRIT will send an email to all individuals who have an active grant account in CGMS with information about confirming and updating their accounts. Active accounts include individuals who have logged into CGMS at least once since January 1, 2025.
Individuals with active accounts can review and update their accounts when the new CPRIT GMP launches. CPRIT is transitioning user contact and organization information (e.g. company/institution name, EIN, and TIN) ahead of the initial launch in August.
The new CPRIT GMP will not include information about currently active or closed grants at launch in August. Information on current or closed grants will remain accessible to you in CGMS until the post-award module launches in January 2027 and CPRIT has fully transitioned the information to the new CPRIT GMP.
- CPRIT will also send a separate email to all members of our email list to ensure that we are not inadvertently missing individuals and supporting individuals who do not have a CGMS account or have an inactive CGMS account. The message will include instructions for creating an account in the new CPRIT GMP for anyone who does not have an active account.
September:
- CPRIT will post links to the FY27.2 Prevention Program RFAs and information about applying for each RFA on the Apply for Funding page and in the new CPRIT GMP.
- Applicants will use the new CPRIT GMP to review and apply for the FY27.2 Academic Research RFAs and the FY27.2 Prevention Program RFAs.
Please note the Academic Research Recruitment RFAs will only be available in the existing grants management system (CARS) until November when recruitment applications will transition to the new CPRIT GMP.
Information about each RFA and how to apply is available on the Apply for Funding page when CPRIT releases the RFA.

January 2027:
- CPRIT launches the peer review and post-award modules!

CPRIT will update this GMP informational page as new developments occur.

Existing organizations, grantees, Authorized Signing Officials, and Office of Sponsored Projects
The day-to-day work for active grantees will not change until January 2027. Contract management, post-award reporting, and payments will continue in the current systems through the rest of the year. The new CPRIT GMP post-award grant management and peer review modules will be available in early January 2027, at which point CPRIT will reach out with the resources and guidance needed for the transition.
If you are part of an Office of Sponsored Projects, or you are the Authorized Signing Official on a CPRIT grant, you will continue that role through the new CPRIT GMP. CPRIT will share additional information in August.
CPRIT is preparing your organization's information for the new platform. You do not need to submit any information now. If CPRIT needs you to confirm or update specific details, CPRIT will reach out directly to you before launch.
Submitting applications in the new CPRIT GMP begins with the FY27.2 Academic Research RFAs. CPRIT will share step-by-step materials covering the FY27.2 application process in the new CPRIT GMP alongside the funding cycle announcement in August.
Nothing about how you request or receive payments will change before January 2027. CPRIT will continue to process payments, reimbursements, and advance requests on current systems during the transition.
Processes related to payments, reimbursements, and advance requests move into the new CPRIT GMP when the post-award modules are available in early January 2027. CPRIT will share guidance on how payment and reimbursement activities work in the new CPRIT GMP before that change occurs.
Nothing about where you submit post-award grant reports will change before January 2027. Post-award grant reporting continues in the CGMS system for now, on the same schedules and deadlines that have always existed. In January 2027, you will begin submitting financial status reports, progress reports, and other post-award reports in the new CPRIT GMP. CPRIT will provide instructions for submitting these reports in the new CPRIT GMP before the transition.
There is nothing to do today to prepare. CPRIT is transitioning user contact and organization information (e.g. company/institution name, EIN, and TIN) ahead of the initial launch in August. CPRIT will migrate current and past grants into the new CPRIT GMP when the post-award module launches in January 2027. CPRIT may reach out directly if we need anything from your organization ahead of the launch in August. CPRIT will share materials to help applicants prepare for the change — including a User Guide and a “How to Apply” instructional video that walks through the application process in the new CPRIT GMP. If you have not already done so, sign up for the CPRIT email list to ensure you receive all the announcements and information related to the new CPRIT GMP.
New organizations and first-time applicants
If you are applying for the first time during the FY27.2 Academic Research or Prevention Program funding cycle, you will submit your application through the new CPRIT GMP. CPRIT will share instructions for creating an organization profile and submitting an application closer to the RFA release date through the CPRIT email list and on our website.
There is nothing required today. CPRIT will share materials to help applicants prepare for the change — including a User Guide and a “How to Apply” instructional video that walks through the application process in the new CPRIT GMP. If you have not already, sign up for the CPRIT email list to ensure you receive all the announcements and information related to the new CPRIT GMP.
Peer Reviewers
Your day-to-day work is not changing until after January 2027. The application review process will continue in the current system (P2RMIS) until after January 2027 when the review modules become available in the new CPRIT GMP. CPRIT will provide you with the resources necessary to use the new CPRIT GMP in advance of the first peer review cycle in the new CPRIT GMP.
Applicants will submit proposals via the new CPRIT GMP beginning with the FY27.2 Academic Research, the FY27.2 Prevention, and the FY27.4 Recruitment cycles. Your review of those applications and all subsequent applications will take place in the new CPRIT GMP peer review modules once they are available in early January 2027. CPRIT will provide reviewer onboarding and guidance for the new CPRIT GMP ahead of that transition, so you will have what you need before review activity begins on the new platform.
There is nothing required today. CPRIT will share reviewer-specific materials and onboarding ahead of the January 2027 transition. If you have not already done so, sign up for the CPRIT email list to ensure you receive all the announcements and information related to the new CPRIT GMP.
