Twelve years ago, Texas made history with an unprecedented initiative to take on cancer. Texas is clearly showing that the investment and focus have been worth it. We are making enormous progress in advancing the understanding of cancer science, accelerating potential cures and prevention strategies, and transforming the cancer landscape in Texas. 

The Legislature’s passage of HJR 12 is a strong endorsement to continue CPRIT’s mission. The outcome now rests in the hands of Texas voters. Our gratitude goes to Representative Zerwas, Senator Nelson, and Senator Watson who championed this effort, as well as the overwhelming number of legislators in both chambers who support CPRIT, and to those who are working every day to reduce the burden of cancer across the state. We look forward to new opportunities to fulfill our mission to improve the health and lives of our fellow Texans.
